Starting to look for loose change between the cushions of your sofa? You’re not alone. With prices soaring and wage growth stagnant, most Aussies are making sacrifices to make ends meet. Cancelling expensive memberships, thrifting clothes and switching out an indulgent coffee for one at home are just some of the things Aussies are doing to get by. But although times are tough, don't ignore your health. Prioritising your health is a great financial investment. There are many Aussie health, fitness and wellness apps available, perfect for any price point that take the guesswork out of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and will keep you on track to hitting those goals.

Here are our top six:

1. Headspace

Switching off from the hustle of life can be difficult, especially with the cost of living crisis causing a rise in financial anxiety. For just $7.67 a month ($91.99 annually) the Headspace app is a great investment to keep your sanity intact with an abundance of meditation and mindfulness courses. The meditations are short so perfect if you have limited time and just want to take some time for yourself. Remember, staying in control of your mental health is just as important as your physical health, so if you think you could benefit from starting a meditation routine, Headspace is definitely worth a try.

 2.  J&J Offical 7-Minute Workout

Here is another one for our time poor friends. How do 7-minute free workouts sound? The Johnson and Johnson 7 minute workout app makes every second count. It is a super convenient app that can easily integrate a little bit of fitness into your day, no matter where you are. Gone is the excuse, ‘I don’t have time’. The app helps you keep track of your workouts, allowing you to measure progress easily. Like exercising with a friend? The app allows you to share your workout because a little healthy competition goes a long way. Best of all, it is free!

3. Nike Running Club

Nike Running Club is a free app that helps you reach your running goals. Thinking of tackling a half marathon, or perhaps you’re just starting out? Regardless of where you are on your running journey, becoming a part of the NRC community which provides advice for both training and a healthy lifestyle. Use the app to track your run, select challenges and stay up to date with your friends’ running journeys. It is a great way to stay inspired and stay healthy.

 4. mPort

Regardless of your price point, the mPort app has something for you. Become empowered and take control of your fitness journey with the app's new ‘Bodymapp’ feature. For just $9.99 a month (or $79.99 annually) you can complete body scans from the comfort of your home and receive personalised, holistic insights into your health via an ‘mBody report’. Transparent data can help you form attainable fitness goals and make necessary lifestyle adjustments. Not in the position to spend any more money? Not a problem! mPort has a free subscription which can provide you with basic body measurements and health metrics.

 5. Yoga For Beginners.

Yoga is a great way to keep fit, boost your metabolism and lower stress but unfortunately most classes don’t come cheap! Yoga for Beginners is a free app that brings the yoga studio to your living room. Take advantage of the lessons and programs and see how you progress from a beginner to a yoga guru. As you grow, take control of your health journey by building and customising your own yoga sessions. The app connects with Apple Health, allowing you to keep track of how you’re benefiting from your yoga workouts.

 6. Meal Prep Pro

Prepping your meals is a great way to save money and keep healthy but doing it each week can be tricky. For just $13.99 a month (or $69.99 annually) Meal Prep Pro can be your right hand person. The app provides you with inspiration for new recipes, personalised to your taste and portion needs. It also helps you keep track of your daily nutrition by tracking calories and macros. With goals, recipes and grocery lists all accessible via the app, it is a great tool to stay physically and financially healthy.
