Australian households generate 12.4 million tonnes of waste each year and are responsible for 47 per cent of the country’s plastic waste.[1] While our governments are working towards a ban on single-use plastics by 2025, the founder of a new, waste-free brand believes Aussies can do more to reduce their environmental impact and encourages them to make more conscious choices, ahead of Plastic Free July.

Australian owned and designed, Keeper Clean is a revolutionary, sustainable hand soap brand. Its waste-free design is made possible through innovative foaming soap pods, formulated with plant-based, non-toxic ingredients and designed to dissolve in water. The product does away with plastic packaging, with all packaging components being compostable and recyclable, thereby reducing waste.

As the name suggests, Keeper Clean is designed to last. Aussies will relish in the simple yet luxe design of its reusable glass soap dispenser and dissolvable soap pods, packaged in minimal packaging. Keeper Clean is free from hidden nasties and chemicals, including parabens, triclosan, phosphates, phthalates and ammonia, which can be harmful to health and immunity, and irritate the skin. Keeper Clean’s formulation is gentle on all skin types, leaving behind a light, refreshing and non-irritating aloe vera scent.

Founded by 26-year-old entrepreneur Bonnie Macqueen, Keeper Clean is a truly grassroots brand, born out of Bonnie’s combined expertise as a brand and marketing specialist and personal passion to lead an environmentally conscious lifestyle. The Sydney-based entrepreneur invested her own money to build the company from the ground-up, without any external funding. Through Keeper Clean, Bonnie believes Aussies can still enjoy luxurious products and lead clean, healthy lives, without harming the environment. So far, Keeper Clean has prevented 532 single-use plastic hand soap bottles from ending up in landfill.

Bonnie says: “Given the current climate, it is more important than ever to maintain cleanliness and reduce bacteria and germs in our environment. However, our newfound ultra-cleanliness brings with it harmful chemicals as well as additional waste, from single-use face masks to hand sanitiser bottles, we’re contributing more than ever to pollution in our oceans and our growing landfill. Through Keeper Clean, I’ve found a way to help Aussies maintain a healthy, clean lifestyle while reducing their waste.

“I started the brand when I first moved out of home and discovered how much plastic I’d accumulated, from the plastic needed to move and set up a new apartment, to how frequently I was replacing, rather than reusing, my cleaning products. My awareness of my personal impact on the environment motivated me to reduce single-use plastics in my home and encourage my peers and family to do the same. With Plastic Free July a few weeks away, Aussies can consider more conscious choices and make changes throughout their household to reduce their plastic waste – which can be as simple as switching out their normal hand soap for sustainable options, such as Keeper Clean.”

Keeper Clean is available to purchase online at www.keeperclean.com.au. The Foaming Hand Soap Starter Kit is RRP $29.95, which includes a reusable, glass soap dispenser and three foaming hand soap refill pods.
