A "smart" phone is a perfect Xmas gift

With just under half of Australian kids aged 6-13 already using mobiles, a phone will be on the top of a Christmas wish list for many children this year.
But with concerns over safety, screen time and cost, a new company has developed a smartphone to give parents peace of mind.
The new Opel Mobile SmartKids Phone is a safe way for children to stay connected while giving parents peace of mind. Unlike other smartphones it has no camera to reduce safety risks (such as images being shared online) and includes a stack of clever security features such as parental control over downloading apps and screen time, ability to whitelist numbers, a GPS location tracker with location alerts, an emergency SOS button plus a child-friendly case and screen protector.
“Technology is inevitable in this modern age, but there are huge safety risks for children which is why we’ve created Australia’s first ultra-safe smartphone for kids. It has built-in parental controls that can be remotely controlled by multiple parents using either their iPhone or Android phones along with many other security features, making it the safest possible first phone for young children whilst still giving them freedom,” Paul English, Executive General Manager Opel Mobile, said.
For a limited timethe Opel Mobile SmartKids Phone will be available for only $199 during the Black Friday sales (21 to 30 November) at JB HiFi, The Good Guys, Big W, Officeworks and Harvey Norman (select locations).
